FurTrack
Overview
FurTrack is the “digital Aadhaar” for stray animals—a free, open‑source web app that lets feeders, rescuers, and neighbourhood volunteers register every street dog or cat, give each one a unique QR tag, and keep a living profile online. Scan the tag or open the public link and you’ll find photos, last‑seen location, feeding schedule, medical notes, and community contact details—so anyone can help keep that animal safe and accounted for.
The challenge was to design a city‑scale tracking tool that works on any phone, handles dozens of animals per feeder, and still feels effortless for first‑time users. We solved it with a progressive web app that auto‑captures GPS, supports bulk uploads, and offers role‑based editing (public viewable, but only verified caregivers can update). A lightweight map layer visualises colony clusters and heat‑maps health alerts, while one‑tap integration with FurCare syncs medical events for shelters. Offline caching, multilingual UI, and an open API make FurTrack ready to grow from a single alleyway to an entire smart‑city stray network—without losing the simple, humane experience at its heart.
